The Mission
CLINQ started as a desktop application that allowed users to use their computer as a phone through cloud connections to various PBX providers. Later, the Android app was developed as a companion, enabling users to make calls on the go through CLINQ and utilize contacts from their CRMs. The goal was to ensure seamless integration of the apps across different clients.
The primary target audience for CLINQ was sales professionals in a modern work environment. The app provided features to streamline their workflow and enhance team productivity. Users could import CRM contacts, make calls, transfer ongoing conversations to other clients, and check the status of team members. Additionally, users could write notes for calls, which were synchronized with the corresponding CRM. Classic telephony functions such as transfer and switching between calls were also supported.
Design
The goal of the design was not only to ensure seamless integration of the clients, but also to provide a native adaptation of the apps to the respective operating systems. Making calls through the CLINQ mobile apps should differ from traditional SIM card-based calling in only one aspect – it should be more productive through CLINQ features. To ensure this specialization, an additional designer was brought in for the equivalent iOS app.
During the beta phase, there was a strategic shift after the app was exclusively offered to users of the sipgate-PBX following a transitional period. This was mainly reflected in the design through the characteristic gradient specific to CLINQ. The original combination of orange, magenta, and violet was replaced by the combination of blue, indigo, and turquoise shown here.
Work environment
As a part of the CLINQ organization, I served as the sole product designer for the CLINQ Android app within a cross-functional team. My work was characterized by close collaboration with the other designers (Desktop/iOS) in the CLINQ organization. Figma was used for the entire design process, where I also established and managed the Android-specialized design system.
In my role, I oversaw the entire development process from preparing and conducting customer interviews, creating UX flows and UI elements, to the implementation in the actual product by developers or myself.
Finally, I also provided strategic guidance as a Product Owner for the app. My tenure at CLINQ concluded due to my transition to the satellite team, another mobile telephony app by sipgate.
